Day 354—20 October 2012
Tom and I happily spent Sweetest Day visiting Justin. We had lunch and dinner with him, and took him shopping for general stuff and groceries. This formidable creature hangs in J’s apartment and measures over 6 feet from elbow to elbow (lest you underestimate him). NOS explains, “He's part of a chariot from when the Opera department did “The Magic Flute” last year. (The German is Die Zauberflöte, which is where his name comes from. It translates literally to magic.) I bought him for $5 at the Krannert prop sale. Michael and I are also convinced that he keeps out the ghosts. Or at least some of them. There are certainly some still hanging around.” The same prop sale yielded a wicked-awesome silver griffin ($10—such a deal!), which lives at “The House” (of friends)—it was too big to keep at the apartment.
