Day 301—28 August 2012 Another first Today, I attended/shot NTS’ first varsity Cross Country meet. The team was particularly anxious to win, because they’re only a few wins shy of breaking the conference all-time winning streak record. Adam feels great about his first varsity effort—he finished 14th overall, and 9th for his team. Pictured is teammate/“bro” Argeni, approaching the chute.

I love fu!</b>
I have a long, and sometimes ambivalent, relationship with fu dogs. Granny the Great has a pair of ceramic fu dogs that were long ago made into lamps. Apparently, when I was very young, I was afraid of them. I think you might be too, if they were staring at you when you were trying to sleep. But, I’ve been a little in love with them for as long as I can remember. Someday, they’ll be guarding our house. This one was a wonderful discovery on my walk through Citizen’s Park today with Dawn [yes, its mate is across the path]. Yesterday was the first day of school for NTS. At tonight’s first home game of the season, he had the honor of singing the Anthem, in addition to his regular duty on the drumline.
