Day 15—16 November 2011 Child-proofed Don’t get me wrong—I love my kids like crazy. But, it’s not easy being the only girl in a houseful of boys (including the big one). They have no respect for my stuff. So, over the years, I have bought duplicate tape dispensers, screwdrivers, scissors—you name it—in an effort to ensure my supplies will be where I expect to find them, when I need them. Alas, this sign (posted on the door to My Room—not my bedroom, but my office/music room/haven) says it all.

Sewing with Susan</b>
Thanks to Facebook, I knew that our young friend Susan needed an iron and a sewing machine. She went to Sarah’s for the iron, and came to our house to use the sewing machine. My trusty little Singer has served me well for nearly three-quarters of my life (though, as I don’t do much more than sew straight lines, I don’t ask much of it). It was great to have a visit with Susan. I’m running; I’m running; I’m done</b>
I had an absolutely fantastic day yesterday, including a lunch date with childhood BFF Catherine and attending a talk given by Chicago Tribune photographer Scott Strazzante (http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/shooting-from-the-hip/). [I also got laundry and some volunteer work done.] But, by late afternoon, I had a wicked headache. So, I skipped cake-decorating class in favor of climbing into my PJs and watching TV with Number Two Son, Adam. As you can see, Tom was very productive at class. A well-oiled machine</b>
Usually, NTS accompanies Tom to Illini football games on Dads Weekend. [I don’t “do” football in November in the Midwest.] This year, NTS was in Terre Haute, running the open race at Nike Cross Nationals, Midwest Regionals. I agreed (against my better judgment) to go to the game. We tailgated with the fantastic Zs. Mike and Jill have quite the tailgating system, and the car-packing is as much an art as the set-up itself.
