Day 366—1 November 2012
The last time I saw Erin at “The Secret Garden,” she was on-stage (then age 11) as Mary Lennox, and Justin (then age 10) was playing Colin Craven. Tonight, we enjoyed the performance of the next batch of kids (Adam’s cohorts). Valerie (Lily Craven), Danny (Ben Weatherstaff), John (Albert Lennox), Caroline (Ayah), and Allie (Ensemble)—along with the rest of the cast, crew, and staff—did such a good job that I was sobbing by the end.
I’m especially glad that Erin is my final subject for this project—it seems like a special and fitting end. Some of the entries were beautiful, or touching, or thought-provoking; some were mundane (as, often, is daily life). Some days, I wasn’t sure I could go on; others, I was inspired. I’m so glad I took on this project—I think it had a lot of value. If nothing else, I became much more aware of my surroundings all the time, and I had a fun new way to journal (I had been writing a daily one-sentence journal, to which I’ll have to retrain myself).
Thanks for sharing this journey with me! I hope you’ll continue to visit me here for years to come, and share in my wonder of the world. Be well!
